Rwanda Huye Mountain (Filter)
David Rubanzangabo is the owner of the Huye Mountain washing station, located in Huye District, Southern Rwanda.
During harvest season, 1330 producers deliver their freshly picked coffee cherries to 26 collecting stations around the Huye community, where a truck visits daily for collection. Typically, a small holding in this district is just a quarter of a hectare in size with around 200 trees, therefore approximately yielding only two bags of coffee per farm.
David grew up locally and cares deeply about the smallholder producers who deliver to his station. As well as paying quality-based premiums, David rewards producers with social incentives, such as cows, goats, micro-loans, school fees and social insurance. Additionally, he is driving environmental change at the station, initiating a water reduction programme with the aim of reducing use by a third.
This is a complex and juicy coffee with tropical pineapple flavours supported by a refined grapefruit acidity. We recommend brewing Huye Mountain on any filter device.
